The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide role at Spring Lake Village is a full-time position that plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of the facility. Working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, this position is essential to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for residents, their families, and staff. This role operates under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor and involves performing a variety of housekeeping and cleaning tasks within assigned areas. Duties include dusting furniture, washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, and door panels, vacuuming carpets and upholstery, and maintaining floors by sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing as needed. The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide is responsible for waste removal, cleaning common areas like lobbies and restrooms, and reporting maintenance issues promptly to ensure timely repairs. The role also supports laundry operations, including processing linens through washing, drying, ironing, folding, and proper storage. Maintaining the cleanliness of laundry machinery and handling emergency housekeeping situations are other critical parts of the job.
The position requires adherence to strict safety standards and body mechanics, use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with health codes and company policies. Employees are expected to attend all mandatory training sessions and contribute to the prevention of accidents through safe work practices. - minimum 3 months prior work experience
- ability to perform physical housekeeping tasks
- good communication skills
- willingness to follow safety protocols
- ability to work Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- commitment to attend mandatory training sessions
- pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 months any prior work experience
- knowledge of housekeeping and laundry procedures considered a plus
- ability to follow instructions and work independently
- good communication and customer service skills
- ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- familiarity with safety standards and proper use of protective equipment
Job Duties
- Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction
- dusts furniture, washes walls, ceilings and woodwork, windows, door panels and sills
- vacuums rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies and hallways, rearrranges small furniture if needed, sweeps, scrubs and waxes floors
- empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
- transports trash and waste to disposal area
- cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, elevators, elevator landings, stairways and hallways as scheduled
- reports when equipment, structures, or furniture needs repair immediately and completes maintenance or housekeeping orders if necessary
- assists with laundry and linens as assigned
- performs final cleanings for new residents as needed
- stocks and maintains supply rooms as needed
- performs all stages of linen processing including collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading and unloading washers, dryers, and chutes, ironing, folding, storing and delivering
- maintains cleanliness of laundry machinery and laundry area
- performs emergency housekeeping when accidents or special needs arise
- follows department safety standards, practices body mechanic techniques and participates in campus-wide safety programs
- follows highest standards of cleanliness and complies with all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines
- performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner, wears PPE and safety equipment as required, reports any safety hazards or accidents to supervisor
- attends all mandatory in-service meetings and complies with all department and facility policies and procedures
- follows safe work habits to prevent injuries to self, residents, visitors or employees
