The role of Housekeeper / Laundry Aide at Carlsbad by the Sea Retirement Community is a critical component of the facility’s operations. This full-time position is scheduled from Thursday to Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering a pay range between $19.00 and $21.00 per hour. Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor, the Housekeeper/Laundry Aide performs essential housekeeping and laundry services to ensure that residents' rooms and common areas are maintained in a neat and sanitary condition. The role demands attention to detail and a dedication to providing excellent service to residents, their families, as well as coworkers and vendors.

The Housekeeper / Laundry Aide’s responsibilities include dusting, cleaning furniture, walls, windows, and floors; vacuuming carpets, rugs, and upholstery; emptying wastebaskets and maintaining ashtrays; and managing the cleanliness of high-traffic areas such as lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and hallways. Additionally, this role involves the thorough processing of linens including collecting, sorting, washing, ironing, folding, and delivering them, along with maintaining laundry equipment and work areas hygienically. Team members in this position are also expected to respond promptly to special cleaning requests and emergencies, maintain supply rooms, and report any required repairs to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Safety and compliance with health codes are paramount, and all housekeepers are required to adhere to federal, state, and corporate policies while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). All employees at Carlsbad by the Sea are expected to attend mandatory in-service meetings and fully comply with all departmental and facility policies.   • One year of previous housekeeping or related experience preferred
  • Ability to provide quality customer service

Job Duties

  • Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors
  • Dusts furniture, washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills
  • Vacuums rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies and hallways
  • Rearranges small furniture if needed
  • Sweeps, scrubs and waxes floors
  • Empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, elevators, elevator landings, stairways and hallways
  • Reports when equipment, structures, or furniture needs repair
  • Assists with laundry and linens
  • Performs final cleanings for new residents
  • Stocks and maintains supply rooms
  • Performs all stages of linen processing including collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading and unloading washers, dryers and chutes, ironing, folding, storing and delivering
  • Maintains cleanliness of laundry machinery and laundry area
  • Performs emergency housekeeping when accidents or special needs arise
  • Follows department safety standards and participates in campus-wide safety programs
  • Adheres to federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines
  • Performs all duties safely and efficiently wearing PPE
  • Reports safety hazards and/or accidents
  • Attends mandatory in-service meetings and complies with all policies
