Dayton Children's - Main Campus is a renowned pediatric hospital dedicated to providing exceptional medical care for children and supporting their families throughout their healthcare journey. Known for its commitment to innovative treatments, comprehensive care, and family-centered services, Dayton Children's operates with core values of innovation, collaboration, ownership, compassion, value creation, and safety. The hospital's environment fosters teamwork, accountability, and a deep commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of its patients and their families. As a leading institution in pediatric healthcare, Dayton Children’s offers a supportive and enriching workplace for all its staff, emphasizing professional development and compassionate care.
The Environmental Services Department at Dayton Children’s is integral in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Housekeeper II position, based on the 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and involving rotating weekends and holidays, plays a vital role within this department. This full-time role entails providing cleaning services directly in the presence of patients and their families, requiring a high level of customer service and professionalism. The Housekeeper II is trained in AIDET communication techniques—acknowledge, introduce, duration, explanation, and thank you—to ensure respectful and effective interaction with patients and visitors during their work.
Housekeeper II staff are entrusted with various cleaning and maintenance tasks designed to uphold the hospital’s sanitary standards, such as making beds, emptying trash receptacles, wiping down equipment, cleaning furniture, polishing floors, vacuuming carpets, and cleaning restrooms. Additionally, they are responsible for laundering hospital linens, conducting daily inspections, and inventorying housekeeping equipment to ensure operational readiness. This attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness contribute significantly to infection control and the overall well-being of patients.
A significant aspect of the job includes training and competency in the safe use, disposal, and handling of cleaning chemicals, ensuring adherence to hospital safety protocols to protect both staff and patients. The role demands reliability, efficiency, and a customer-focused mindset, supporting the mission of Dayton Children’s to offer a safe, compassionate, and healing environment for every child and their family. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to work in a dynamic healthcare setting where their contributions directly affect patient comfort and safety.
