The Housekeeper position at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a full-time role, requiring 80 hours per pay period, primarily scheduled during day shifts. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of the hospital, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, hospital furnishings, and other assigned areas, following strict policies, procedures, and schedules established by the hospital. They also manage the restocking of supplies in restrooms and other designated hospital rooms.
Housekeepers at Fort Sanders Regional perform various duties essential to hospital operations, including the removal of waste and soiled linens, cleaning of emergency spills, and routine inspection of equipment to ensure functionality and cleanliness. Job Duties
- Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods
- assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request
- performs daily check of assigned equipment for cleanliness and proper repair
- observes and reports need for repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings and fixtures
- removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places in specified containers or bags
- collects trash from utility rooms and other trash collection points and transports to compactor area
- cleans trash cans and reline with plastic bags upon request
- demonstrates proper handling of biohazardous wastes
- monitors levels of supplies and equipment and notifies supervisor of need for additional supplies
- performs personal inspection of all tasks performed and areas assigned
- follows policies, procedures, and safety standards
- completes required education assignments annually
- works toward achieving goals and objectives
- participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested
- performs other duties as assigned
