Job Description
Brown County is a government organization dedicated to providing high-quality public services to its community. Committed to maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary environments, Brown County employs a team of hardworking professionals who support various departments and community facilities. This establishment prioritizes public health, safety, and environmental standards with strict adherence to state and federal regulations. It offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities to individuals looking for a stable and rewarding career in custodial and housekeeping services in a supportive and team-oriented workplace.
The housekeeping role within Brown County is a vital position focused on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across multiple facilities. This full-time or part-time position requires an individual who is thorough, detail-oriented, and capable of managing various cleaning tasks efficiently. Key responsibilities include vacuuming and extracting carpets, cleaning floors by stripping, waxing, and buffing, and sanitizing resident rooms and restrooms. The role also involves cleaning light fixtures, furniture, walls, and windows, ensuring that all areas meet high standards of hygiene and safety. Employees will be required to collect and dispose of waste properly and keep cleaning supplies adequately stocked.
Part-time workers typically commit to 20 hours per week, with specific shifts on Thursdays, Fridays, and alternating weekends, while full-time employees work 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule that includes weekdays and every other weekend. This flexibility accommodates different lifestyles while ensuring continuous cleanliness and upkeep of county facilities.
Housekeepers are expected to operate various cleaning machinery, including buffers, wringers, scrubbers, extractors, and vacuums, along with floor machines and burnishers. Responsibilities also extend to reporting equipment issues, executing safety standards rigorously, and maintaining proper documentation. The role necessitates physical activity such as climbing ladders to clean high areas and lifting materials safely up to 50 pounds, sometimes requiring assistance.
In this position, teamwork and communication skills are essential, as is an understanding of infection control, standard precautions, disinfectants, and privacy regulations like HIPAA. Employees must be vigilant in recognizing safety hazards and proactive in reporting them to supervisors. Emphasis is placed on continuous education with periodic in-services and compliance with both state and federal mandates. Brown County values employees who contribute to a respectful and cooperative work environment while delivering excellent service to residents and communities.
This opportunity offers a meaningful way to serve the public by supporting essential operations that directly impact health and comfort.
