The role of Heavy Duty Cleaner at Ellis Park is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of this vibrant establishment. Reporting directly to the Custodial Supervisor, the Heavy Duty Cleaner is responsible for performing a broad range of custodial duties that ensure the facilities remain in pristine condition. This position requires not only diligence in cleaning tasks but also the ability to work cooperatively within a team-oriented environment. A typical day involves heavy-duty cleaning activities such as high dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping, disposing of trash, and power washing restrooms. The role also includes specialized maintenance tasks like stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, as well as cleaning windows, mirrors, walls, doors, carpets, upholstery, and other furnishings.

Strong adherence to standard operating procedures in custodial work and the proper preventative maintenance and cleaning of custodial equipment are key responsibilities of the Heavy Duty Cleaner. The position demands flexibility, as working hours may include odd shifts, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the round-the-clock nature of hospitality and horse racing operations at Ellis Park. In addition to physical cleaning duties, the Heavy Duty Cleaner is expected to foster a positive team spirit by assisting coworkers, maintaining respectful and courteous interactions with all personnel and guests, and embracing change constructively.
