The role of Heavy Duty Cleaner at Ellis Park is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and overall presentation of the facility. Reporting directly to the Custodial Supervisor, this position ensures that all Ellis Park areas and related facilities remain spotless, safe, and welcoming. The Heavy Duty Cleaner will engage in a variety of rigorous custodial tasks that keep the venue in optimal condition, reflecting the park's high standards of cleanliness and safety. This is a crucial position that supports the guest experience and helps sustain the integrity of the environment in which both employees and patrons spend their time.
Heavy Duty Cleaners at Ellis Park are responsible for executing heavy-duty cleaning tasks such as high dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping, disposing of trash, power washing restrooms, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, and cleaning windows, mirrors, walls, carpets, upholstery, and other furnishings. This role demands a proactive approach to equipment maintenance, ensuring custodial tools are well-maintained and ready for use. Beyond the physical cleaning tasks, employees are expected to foster a collaborative and positive work environment by supporting team goals, assisting colleagues, and maintaining respectful and courteous interactions with both coworkers and guests.
In addition, the Heavy Duty Cleaner plays a significant role in guest relations by building friendly and professional interactions, learning guests' names and preferences, and providing accurate information about the park's services, amenities, and upcoming promotions. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including the ability to work under pressure and during weekends, holidays, and unusual shifts.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Relevant work experience preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Physical ability to perform heavy custodial tasks such as high dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping
- Ability to operate custodial equipment including wand extractor, buffer, chariot extractor, vacuum backpack, burnisher, high lift/scissor lift
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to maintain regular attendance including odd and unusual hours, weekends and holidays
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to follow custodial department procedures

Job Duties
- Perform heavy duty custodial duties such as high dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping, disposing of trash, power washing restrooms, stripping, waxing and buff floors, cleaning windows, mirrors, walls, doors, carpet, upholstery and other furnishings
- Comply with custodial department standard operating procedures
- Responsible for preventative maintenance of custodial equipment and cleaning of equipment
- Be a team player and foster a collaborative and positive work environment
- Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions
- Develop thorough knowledge of services, room locations, amenities, surroundings and provide accurate directions and information
- Maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with Ellis Park personnel and the general public
- Work under pressure and maintain regular and punctual attendance including odd hours, weekends and holidays
- Maintain all heavy floor equipment and supplies applicable to floor cleaning requirements
- Report equipment repair requirements to the custodial supervisor
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned
