This position is located at the SouthWood facility in Tallahassee, Florida, offering a full-time opportunity on the first shift. The role of Housekeeper at PruittHealth involves providing cleaning services that ensure a safe, sanitary, comfortable, and homelike environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This critical function supports the overall health and satisfaction of those who live and work in the facility by maintaining cleanliness in accordance with facility policies, state regulations, and federal laws. The Housekeeper will conduct a variety of custodial tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and cleaning of bathrooms and glass surfaces, all crucial responsibilities that help prevent the spread of infection and create a welcoming atmosphere.
In this role, an individual will be expected to follow detailed procedures, including infection control standards and use of safety signage, to protect residents and staff. Tasks also include care for privacy curtains and draperies, dusting and damp cleaning of resident rooms, and moving furniture to access hidden areas for thorough cleaning. PruittHealth provides on-the-job training, making it accessible to candidates with no prior experience in housekeeping or environmental services. However, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and previous experience in healthcare housekeeping is an advantage.

Job Requirements
- No previous experience required, on-the-job training provided
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and infection control standards
- Capability to use cleaning equipment such as mops, vacuums, and buffers
- Ability to safely use ladders for curtain and drapery maintenance
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties including bending, lifting, and moving furniture
- Willingness to work full-time on the first shift
- Must comply with facility policies and state and federal regulations
Job Qualifications
- Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with healthcare housekeeping or environmental services preferred
Job Duties
- Sweeps, damp mops, and wet mops tile floors
- Occasionally spray buffs, strips, or waxes floors following center procedures
- Vacuums carpeted rooms as applicable
- Empties trash cans, cleans interior and exterior, and replaces can liners
- Cleans bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets following center procedures
- Cleans glass surfaces such as mirrors, pictures, and windows
- Cleans behind and underneath furnishings
- Follows infection control standards while performing cleaning
- Prevents and removes wax and dirt buildup in corners, around baseboards, and doorways
- Changes soiled privacy curtains and draperies for outside windows as needed
- Removes and re-hangs curtains and draperies for outside windows using a ladder
- Dusts and damp cleans surfaces in patient and resident rooms including furniture, bed frames, and windowsills
- Moves furniture to clean behind and underneath according to center procedures
- Turns bed mattresses after cleaning
