The Housekeeper is tasked with performing a broad range of routine cleaning duties, including heavy cleaning and the handling of substantial lifting activities. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Manager, this position does not involve supervisory responsibilities over other staff but plays a key role in maintaining a hygienic and welcoming environment for both residents and staff. Full-time employment status comes with distinct weekend differentials and the aforementioned benefits, reinforcing the supportive nature of the workplace. \n\nThe Housekeeper is expected to carry out a wide variety of tasks such as sweeping, mopping, wet washing floors, cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, and removing trash. Responsibilities further extend to maintaining resident care areas through washing and changing bed linens, cleaning mattresses, and putting away resident clothing post-laundry. The role requires careful attention to detail, from cleaning air outlets and return grilles to disinfecting beds, wheelchairs, commodes, and louver drapes. Utilizing equipment like buffer machines for floor polishing and ladders for hard-to-reach places is routine. In addition, the Housekeeper plays an important role during inclement weather by shoveling snow and clearing sidewalks to ensure safety and accessibility. \n\nPhysical demands of this role are significant, requiring strength to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds, as well as the ability to perform physically taxing tasks such as stooping, kneeling, climbing, and balancing. The job also requires the capacity to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to follow instructions and maintain safety standards. This position is eligible for overtime and falls under the ASCME Gracedale 1435 union designation, with a pay grade GU-02B and a career service classification. Adherence to the Feeding Program training is mandatory to ensure the well-being of residents.
