Job Description
This job opportunity is with a well-established community living facility focused on providing a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for its residents. The facility prioritizes maintaining high standards of hygiene and upkeep through dedicated housekeeping services. As a community-centered organization, the facility aims to ensure that all common areas, recreational spaces, and individual living quarters are meticulously maintained and conducive to a healthy living atmosphere. The team here is committed to supporting residents by providing an environment that reflects care, cleanliness, and attention to detail throughout the day.
The role of the Housekeeper within this community living setting is full-time, operating from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This position involves performing daily housekeeping activities that are critical to the overall maintenance and sanitation of the community. The housekeeper is responsible for routine cleaning duties assigned day-to-day, which includes but is not limited to cleaning residents' rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance or exit pathways. The housekeeper will work in coordination with management to ensure that cleaning schedules and priorities are met efficiently and effectively.
The scope of the responsibilities requires attention to detail in cleaning and polishing furnishings, fixtures, room heating and cooling units, and other related surfaces. Bathroom fixtures must be sanitized, washed, and polished, ensuring water marks are removed and sanitation is maintained at a high standard. The role also involves cleaning windows and mirrors, walls, and ceilings by employing various cleaning methods such as wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing as needed. Waste management is another key duty where the housekeeper is responsible for properly disposing of trash and maintaining waste receptacles.
An important aspect of this role is the maintenance of cleaning supplies and equipment, including replenishing supplies, informing supervisors about inventory needs, and ensuring proper storage and care of work carts and equipment at the end of shifts. The housekeeper may also be tasked with special projects or additional duties as directed by the supervisor, highlighting the need for flexibility and a team-oriented mindset.
This position not only requires physical stamina and the ability to perform certain physical tasks such as bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and moving up to 100 pounds but also necessitates good sensory abilities, including the ability to see and hear adequately, with or without prosthetics. This ensures that all safety and quality standards for cleaning are fully met to protect the welfare of residents and staff alike.
Ideal candidates for this position will have a high school diploma or equivalent with a preference for individuals who possess at least one year of housekeeping experience, particularly in community or residential settings. Physical capability and reliability are essential for success in this role, given the consistent physical movement involved throughout the shift. Overall, this role is critical for sustaining the high standards of cleanliness and safety that the community demands, contributing significantly to the residents' quality of life and the facility's reputation.
