The Housekeeping role offered at Northern Nevada Medical Center is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week. As a Housekeeper, the incumbent is entrusted with the vital responsibility of ensuring that all areas within the hospital—including patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical spaces, waiting areas, and corridors—are maintained in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner at all times. This role plays a crucial part in infection control through adherence to hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions, and isolation protocols, thereby supporting the hospital’s mission to provide a safe environment for both patients and staff. The position also involves handling waste management by transporting trash and hazardous materials appropriately, utilizing approved chemicals and supplies, and actively participating in performance improvement initiatives to enhance overall cleaning processes and patient satisfaction.

Job Duties

  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions
  • Participates in performance improvement activities
