Job Description

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a comprehensive 495-bed hospital system serving the Amarillo area and its surrounding regions. The healthcare system is known for blending traditional values with the advanced technologies necessary to provide top-quality medical care. Situated in Amarillo, a city offering the unique combination of big-city conveniences and the approachable warmth of a small-town atmosphere, Northwest Texas Healthcare System is deeply embedded in the community. The region boasts natural attractions like the beauty of Palo Duro Canyon, excellent recreational facilities, and a high-quality educational system, which together make this area a great place to live and work.

At Northwest Texas Healthcare System, employees are valued as the bedrock of the institution’s success. We seek professionals who are not only dedicated to their work but also passionate about contributing positively to patient care. Our organizational culture is centered on exemplary patient care and personal excellence, values which every employee is expected to uphold. The system offers a supportive work environment where teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement are emphasized.

This particular position is for an Environmental Services Worker/Housekeeper who plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and aseptic environment throughout the hospital. This role is essential to safeguarding patient health and safety by ensuring that the hospital premises are disinfected, orderly, and inviting. The Environmental Services Worker/Housekeeper may be assigned to various tasks such as patient area cleaning, non-patient area cleaning, trash handling, or working in specialized care units.

The position requires a professional demeanor consistent with the organization's service excellence standards when interacting with a diverse patient population, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, as well as patients’ families and coworkers. Key responsibilities involve thorough cleaning duties that help prevent infections and maintain hygiene to the highest standards. The role demands attention to detail, the ability to work under supervision, and flexibility to adapt to the demands of a healthcare environment, including responding to immediate and urgent cleaning needs.

The Environmental Services Worker/Housekeeper position involves routine and repetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, window washing, upholstery cleaning, curtain replacements, vent cleaning, bathroom scrubbing, floor stripping, and carpet extraction to maintain the integrity of the hospital's cleanliness. It also requires physical endurance, as the role involves heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and maneuvering equipment. The worker must also manage supplies and equipment efficiently to ensure uninterrupted service.

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the largest hospital and healthcare services providers in the country. UHS is a Fortune 500 company with annual revenues exceeding $15 billion and supports an extensive network of healthcare facilities across the United States, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. UHS is recognized for its commitment to excellence and innovation in healthcare. Working at Northwest Texas Healthcare System means opportunities for career growth within UHS and its subsidiaries, alongside competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
