Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: leader of self, leader of others, or leader of leaders
  • requests and receives cleaning equipment and supplies such as mops, buckets, electric buffers, vacuum cleaners, rags, disinfectants, and the like from the Environmental Service Supply Room, and prepares cleaning solutions
  • loads hand-pushed utility cart with supplies and equipment and pushes cart to assigned work area
  • dry and wet mop and vacuum large areas of floors and operate buffing equipment
  • performs heavy-duty cleaning of floors and carpet
  • washes, scrubs, and disinfects walls, windows, and doors
  • gathers refuse from various hospital locations and transports same in hand pushed cart to compactor or shoot
  • move furniture and equipment by use of hand cart or dollies
  • performs related service tasks such as cleaning spills, washing windows and other glass surfaces, spraying insecticides, making patient beds, dusting surfaces, and hanging cubicle curtains and draperies
  • visually inspect the area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved
  • returns unused supplies to the utility room, cleans carts and equipment and ensures all items are stored in an orderly
  • report any environmental/safety hazards to the supervisor for repair
  • follows all OSHA guidelines while on duty and during the use of all cleaning chemicals
  • daily patient room checkouts are to be cleaned using established check-out cleaning procedures
  • maintains patient confidentiality
  • other duties as assigned
