Oceans Behavioral Hospital Broussard is a dedicated healthcare facility specializing in behavioral health treatment and wellness. We are currently seeking compassionate and motivated Housekeepers to join our team in both full-time and PRN (as-needed) capacities. This position is vital in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and hospitable environment that positively affects patient experience and safety. Housekeepers at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Broussard play a critical role in infection control by diligently cleaning all hospital areas, including patient rooms, clinical departments, offices, public spaces, and specialized sterile areas. The role requires responsibility for floor care, carpet maintenance, linen management, waste disposal, and equipment upkeep, all conducted under strict adherence to safety protocols and infection prevention standards.

As a Housekeeper, you will be part of a team that supports the hospital's therapeutic environment by ensuring that cleanliness standards meet and exceed expectations. Your work directly contributes to the well-being and comfort of patients by creating surrounding spaces that feel safe and welcoming. Key responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms daily, performing terminal cleaning after patient discharge or transfer, maintaining nursing stations and public areas, and actively participating in infection control practices. Additionally, you will handle linen distribution, waste disposal, and oversee the maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to read and write in order to read labels and containers of chemicals used, order supplies, complete inventories
  • High school graduate preferred
  • Minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial or a minimum of one-year experience related to this position

Job Qualifications

  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide housekeeping services appropriate to any age-related disability needs of the patients served
  • Ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others
  • Considerable initiative and judgment involved in leading housekeeping to provide an aseptically clean environment
  • Working knowledge of infection control, safety principles, and share training
  • Successful completion of CPR certification
  • Successful completion of an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize all areas of the facility in accordance with established policies
  • Clean and disinfect patients' rooms and baths daily
  • Perform terminal cleaning after transfer or discharges 100% of the time
  • Clean, empty, dust, sanitize nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry room, restrooms, sitting rooms and dining rooms daily
  • Dust and mop all hard floors
  • buff, strip, wax as needed for hard floors
  • shampoo carpets when needed
  • clean drapes
  • Follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning 100% of the time
  • use universal precautions 100% of the time
  • Collect and distribute clean linen and contain soiled linen in proper containers
  • follow procedures for disposal of biohazard waste and other waste
  • follow directions for use of cleaning chemicals
  • Clean, maintain and monitor equipment in good condition at all times
  • Monitor, order and use linen in a cost-effective manner
  • Report broken, defective patient care/room equipment
  • complete work request for repairs
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
