The Housekeeper role at SRIM is crucial in maintaining the community’s cleanliness, orderliness, and sanitation to create an environment where residents feel safe and cared for. This position operates under direct supervision and involves performing a variety of housekeeping and laundry duties to uphold the community's hygiene standards. The employee is responsible for following established cleaning schedules, performing tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, deep cleaning resident rooms, and sanitizing bathrooms and administrative offices. Beyond cleaning duties, the role includes ensuring a supportive and dignified atmosphere, interacting with residents and visitors kindly and respectfully, and responding promptly to requests for assistance. The housekeeper also plays a key role in maintaining safety by practicing good body mechanics, reporting hazards immediately, and adhering to safety protocols.
This position is essential during emergencies, such as inclement weather, requiring the housekeeper to remain onsite until officially released. The role demands a positive attitude, reliable attendance, and adherence to policies related to dress code, confidentiality, and HIPAA regulations. Housekeepers are expected to assist nursing staff as needed, participate in resident leisure activities, and support dining service operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear regularly
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently
- Ability to occasionally climb or balance
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to occasionally be exposed to bloodborne pathogens
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures including safety and HIPAA regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations
Job Duties
- Follows established cleaning schedule
- Completes daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of all common areas
- Follows established schedule for deep cleaning of resident rooms
- Cleans administrative offices as scheduled
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms
- Cleans carpets and mops all floors upon request
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents
