Job Description
American Cruise Lines is the largest U.S. cruise company that offers unique travel experiences exploring America’s rivers and coasts. With a strong reputation for quality service and authentic American journeys, the company operates a fleet of modern and classic small ships dedicated to sharing America’s story. By providing exceptional hospitality, American Cruise Lines has established itself as America's Leading Small Ship Cruise Line, creating memorable vacations for its guests while fostering a positive work culture based on core values like optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit. These values not only guide how the company serves guests but also shape the employee experience, creating an environment where dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude are highly valued.
The Housekeeper position at American Cruise Lines is a vital shipboard hotel role designed for the 2026 season. This position involves working onboard one of the company’s ships for a temporary period of 28 weeks, providing impeccable housekeeping services that ensure guest comfort and cleanliness throughout the voyage. As a Housekeeper, you will contribute significantly to creating a welcoming, sanitary, and attractive environment for guests, which is central to the company’s hospitality standards. This role offers wages ranging from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, along with additional bonuses, making it a financially rewarding seasonal job, especially considering that all major living expenses such as room, board, uniforms, and training are covered while onboard.
In this role, housekeeping duties are varied and crucial. Responsibilities include cleaning staterooms, facilities, and common areas, maintaining inventory and stocking linens, vacuuming and sweeping floors, and responding promptly to guest requests in a polite and professional manner. Housekeepers also play a more social role by engaging with guests, assisting during special events such as afternoon teas or cocktail parties, and providing an overall positive guest experience. The position demands physical stamina and the ability to work under the unique conditions of life at sea, including adapting to the ship’s motion and working long hours. American Cruise Lines emphasizes safety and requires the ability to perform emergency procedures, maintain grooming standards, and comply with federal regulations, including pre-employment drug testing.
This entry-level opportunity is perfect for individuals seeking to kickstart a career in hospitality or cruise services. The role offers a foundation of experience in a dynamic environment with competitive pay, travel opportunities to over 35 states across America on more than 50 itineraries, and the chance to forge lifelong relationships with crew members and guests. Though temporary, this position can serve as a stepping stone for candidates interested in growing their careers within American Cruise Lines, with potential future opportunities for advancement into management roles. Overall, this Housekeeper job provides a unique blend of adventure, professional development, pride in service, and financial benefit, all while working on some of the finest American ships in the industry.
