This position plays a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of both common areas and resident rooms, ensuring a high standard of living for the community. The Housekeeper is expected to follow established procedures for cleaning and infection control, handle housekeeping chemicals responsibly, and communicate effectively with management regarding any concerns or changes in residents' conditions. Candidates for this role should have a natural affinity for seniors and a genuine concern for their well-being. Attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential for success in this role. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • ability to stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull, and twist using good body mechanics for sustained periods
  • ability to follow cleaning procedures and infection control techniques
  • must be able to work with hazardous chemicals
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • completed criminal background check and drug screening
  • availability to work Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • willingness to work in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED equivalent preferred
  • ability to read, speak, and write in English
  • possess genuine loving and caring attitude for seniors
  • ability to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner
  • ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • some experience in hospitality or senior community helpful but not required
  • complete all required employment screenings including criminal background check and drug screenings

Job Duties

  • Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to policies and procedures
  • dust wall vents, handrails, ceiling fans, baseboards, furniture, and blinds
  • vacuum and spot clean carpets and shampoo, as directed
  • vacuum and spot clean sofa/chairs
  • check for and remove marks from walls
  • clean and sanitize bathrooms, refill paper towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers
  • maintain chemicals in properly labeled containers and keep housekeeping cart stocked
  • ensure residents do not have access to chemicals by locking carts and storage rooms
  • collect and empty trash
  • follow proper cleaning and infection control techniques
  • identify special resident problems and report them immediately to supervisor and/or seek assistance from supervisor
  • notify maintenance of items needing attention including burned out light bulbs and safety hazards
  • identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action
  • use wet floor/safety hazard signs when cleaning hard surface floors in public areas
  • participate in educational programs, staff meetings, and in-services
  • comply and be held accountable for federal, state, and local regulations
  • listen to resident and/or family concerns/complaints and report them to supervisor
  • maintain emotional composure and stay calm in all situations
  • other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • work with hazardous chemicals
  • work in a team environment and support others as requested by supervisor
  • support and participate in resident centered activity programs
  • participate in projects or committees
  • attend associate meetings including in-service education and associate functions
  • assist in variety of tasks involving residents as assigned
