The Housekeeper role at J&P Hospitality is integral to upholding these standards by ensuring the guest rooms and common areas are immaculate, safe, and inviting. This position involves a balance between routine cleaning tasks and deep cleaning responsibilities, particularly important in extended-stay environments where guests remain for longer periods. As a Housekeeper, the individual will be directly responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of occupied rooms by replenishing supplies and promptly addressing maintenance or safety concerns with the General Manager. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Employment is on-site with a non-exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the position is hourly and eligible for overtime pay as applicable. The Housekeeper reports directly to the General Manager and does not have direct reports. This role is crucial in contributing to the overall guest satisfaction which directly impacts the company's success and reputation. Housekeepers are expected to follow all safety and operational protocols, including the careful use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring a safe environment for guests and staff alike.

Other key expectations include maintaining a professional appearance, adhering to scheduled shifts which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and being adaptable to the fast-paced and dynamic hospitality setting. The physical demands of the job are significant, involving activities such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing stairs, often requiring the movement of heavy objects with or without assistance. Job Requirements

  • Maintain a professional appearance and deliver service in line with company values
  • Be punctual dependable and available to work scheduled shifts including evenings weekends and holidays with flexibility to support additional coverage when needed

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and company data
  • Demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Work as part of a team and support shared property goals
  • Must be able to stand walk bend kneel and climb stairs for extended periods during a shift
  • Must be able to lift move up to 25 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance including laundry bags cleaning equipment mattresses
  • Must be able to use hands and arms for sweeping mopping wiping and other repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to detect odors such as smoke gas or strong cleaning chemicals to help maintain a safe environment for guests and staff
  • Must have vision abilities including close distance color peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals odors dirt dust and varying indoor or outdoor temperatures
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience a plus but not required
  • Ability to read and follow instructions in English
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Job Duties

  • Clean guest rooms according to property standards including floors bathrooms kitchenettes and furnishings
  • Perform deep cleans on rooms after guest departure including all surfaces linens and appliances
  • Replenish linens towels toiletries and other room supplies
  • Remove trash clean floors dust surfaces sanitize bathrooms and restock housekeeping carts
  • Report room maintenance issues safety concerns or damages to the General Manager
  • Ensure housekeeping carts and storage areas are kept organized and secure
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of common areas as assigned including hallways stairwells and lobbies
  • Follow all safety procedures including proper use of cleaning products and PPE
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
