Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls is currently seeking a Housekeeper who will be integral in maintaining safe, secure, and inviting environments for all residents, families, and staff. This full-time role demands attention to detail and a heart for service, as housekeeping duties are essential in ensuring that resident suites, public areas, and support spaces meet or exceed the exemplary Sunrise quality standards. Housekeepers at Sunrise not only perform routine cleaning and laundry tasks but also contribute to the residents’ well-being by respecting their privacy and responding promptly and positively to their needs.

The role includes various responsibilities such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, and polishing various surfaces, including floors, fixtures, furniture, and windowsills. Housekeepers also manage linen services by collecting, cleaning, folding, and inspecting linens to maintain a comfortable and hygienic living environment. Resident care support is another vital part of the position, requiring the Housekeeper to assist Care Managers and respond to resident requests compassionately and efficiently.

In terms of safety and risk management, the Housekeeper will uphold all relevant occupational health and safety requirements, including proper chemical storage, hazard management, and infection control practices. They will participate actively in team engagement activities, training programs, and compliance measures to ensure that every aspect of the community functions smoothly and safely.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Ability to provide housekeeping and laundry services that meet or exceed Sunrise’s quality standards
Desire to work with seniors
Ability to follow directions and work independently
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with interruptions
Ability to communicate effectively
Willingness to participate in team meetings and training
Compliance with safety and infection control procedures
Pass drug test, tuberculosis test, physical evaluation, and background check
Covid-19 and influenza vaccination if mandated by law

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience providing housekeeping and laundry services in a resident-centered environment
Desire to work with seniors
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to handle multiple priorities and interruptions
Competent organizational and time management skills
Good judgment, problem solving, and decision making skills
Ability to work semi-independently

Completion of required training and compliance with safety protocols

Job Duties

Perform general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas, and support areas as assigned while meeting or exceeding Sunrise’s quality standards
Perform cleaning duties according to schedule in assigned areas such as resident suites, bathrooms, common areas and offices including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, and polishing surfaces
Knock on resident’s and public restroom doors before entering to respect privacy
Maintain equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly condition
Transport supplies including clean and soiled linen to appropriate areas
Collect trash and maintain trash receptacles and collection areas in a clean and sanitary manner
Collect, clean, and redistribute community laundry by sorting, washing, drying, folding, counting linens
Inspect linens routinely for wear and tear and follow procedures for damaged linens
Maintain commercial laundry area in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
Assist Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested
Respond to resident requests and direct feedback to supervisors
Review and document resident’s physical and behavioral changes in Daily Log
Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and locked when not in use
Keep cords, carts, and equipment out of the way and comply with fire codes
Promote risk management programs and comply with safety rules and regulations
Practice safety procedures including use of PPE, fire extinguishers, SDS, and Lockout Tagout
Participate as a team member supporting team goals and engagement programs
Attend regular meetings and complete required training
Perform other duties as assigned
