With a dedication to excellence and community well-being, Story County Medical Center offers a range of healthcare services designed to meet the diverse needs of the population it serves, emphasizing patient-centered care and operational efficiency.

As a Housekeeper in the Environmental Services department at Story County Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This full-time position entails working 40 hours per week with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $22.50, commensurate with experience. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas, public restrooms, administrative spaces, and other departments such as kitchens and cafeterias. The role is vital in ensuring that all areas meet stringent cleanliness and safety standards, which directly impacts patient care quality and overall hospital safety.

The Housekeeper position requires adhering to strict guidelines regarding the proper use and storage of cleaning solutions and hazardous chemicals to maintain safety for everyone in the facility. You will also be tasked with cleaning windows, furniture, air diffusers, grilles, doors, and entrances, contributing to a visually welcoming and hygienic setting. An important part of your duties will involve the careful removal and disposal of general and potentially infectious medical waste, helping to uphold health regulations and protect the hospital environment.

Effective communication with the Facilities department and other Story Medical departments is essential to coordinate tasks and maintain operational efficiency. Participation in daily huddles, staff meetings, and other departmental events is expected, fostering teamwork and continuous improvement within the Facilities team. Additionally, managing linens by collecting dirty linens, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing clean linens aligns with compliance to state and federal standards and hospital policies. This detail-oriented work supports overall hospital hygiene and patient comfort.

Candidates who join Story County Medical Center will find a workplace culture that values courtesy, cooperation, and professionalism, creating a positive atmosphere for co-workers, patients, and visitors alike. The center is committed to employee well-being and offers various benefits including wellness resources, professional development opportunities, retirement planning assistance, and a supportive work environment. Attaining this role positions you within a community-focused healthcare institution that encourages professional growth and values every team member's contributions.

Story County Medical Center is an equal opportunity employer that embraces diversity and inclusivity while requiring legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not provide sponsorship for work authorization, so candidates must be eligible to work legally without restrictions. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about optimizing patient care through maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment, this position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a dedicated healthcare team and contribute to the well-being of your community. Together, you will help maintain a healthcare setting where patient safety and comfort are paramount, reinforcing Story County Medical Center's reputation for quality and care.
