We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our senior living communities. As a Housekeeper, you will perform cleaning duties according to scheduled routines in various areas such as apartment homes, common spaces, lounges, and offices. Your responsibilities will include sweeping, dusting, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, polishing fixtures, and maintaining sanitary conditions throughout all assigned locations.

The Housekeeper position also involves collecting and redistributing community laundry and ensuring commercial laundry machines are kept clean and orderly. You will play a key role in maintaining equipment and supplies, safely storing cleaning chemicals, and adhering to fire safety regulations to prevent hazards. Reporting any necessary repairs or supply needs to the lead Housekeeper will also be part of your role.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, previous housekeeping experience, and proficiency in communicating effectively with seniors in their primary language. An interest in working with the senior population is essential, as is the ability to interpret safety and maintenance instructions. Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, and lifting weight up to 50 pounds at times. The role requires a responsible individual who is courteous, dependable, and attentive to detail.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively speaking the primary language of the residents
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population
  • Ability to interact courteously and friendly with guests, residents and staff
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift and or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision and color vision

Job Duties

  • Performs cleaning duties according to schedule in assigned areas such as apartment homes, common areas, lounges and offices
  • Sweeps, dusts, dust mops, and wet mops all floors and stairways
  • Spot cleans and vacuums floors, rugs, carpets and runners
  • Rotates runners in hallways and entryways
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes lavatory, shower and sink fixtures and facilities
  • Stocks dispensers as necessary
  • Scrubs bath and shower room tiles, woodwork, window frames, and sills
  • Maintains equipment and materials needed to perform work in a clean and orderly condition
  • Collects trash and refuse from work areas and places in designated pick-up areas
  • Responsible for collecting, cleaning and redistributing the community laundry
  • Maintains the commercial laundry in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition
  • Ensures cleaning chemicals are kept stored and locked when not in use
  • Ensures any cords, carts, equipment and other hazards are kept out of the way at all times and in compliance with fire codes
  • Reports any needed repairs and supply and equipment needs to the lead housekeeper
  • Other duties as assigned
