Job Description
Benchmark Senior Living is a leading provider of senior living communities, dedicated to offering exceptional care and a welcoming environment for older adults. With a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, Benchmark Senior Living integrates compassionate care with innovative practices, ensuring every community member feels valued, respected, and comfortable. The organization emphasizes a culture of safety, dignity, and respect, catering to the complex needs of seniors, including those with progressive conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. Benchmark Senior Living is renowned for its supportive work environment and the professional growth opportunities it offers its employees. The company values teamwork, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of its residents.
The Housekeeper role within the Plant Maintenance department at Benchmark Senior Living is pivotal to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors alike. Reporting directly to the Plant Operations Director, this non-exempt position is vital in ensuring that all community areas, including resident apartments and common spaces, are consistently sanitized and presentable. Housekeepers at Benchmark Senior Living are responsible for laundering towels, bed linens, and residents’ personal laundry, applying the highest standards of cleanliness and care. The role also entails handling, using, and storing cleaning chemicals safely and being well-versed in emergency procedures related to chemical misuse. Moreover, housekeepers manage biohazardous waste correctly, emphasizing the organization's commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
A day in the life of a Housekeeper here involves thorough cleaning duties such as sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming floors, wiping kitchen surfaces, dusting, and cleaning windows, among others. The household maintenance tasks extend to common areas like elevators, hallways, and activity rooms, ensuring these spaces meet strict cleanliness standards. Housekeepers are also responsible for maintaining their cleaning and laundry carts’ orderliness, advising supervisors when supplies run low to ensure uninterrupted operations. This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a respectful approach to residents’ belongings. Benchmark Senior Living invests in its housekeepers by providing specialized equipment like commercial washers and dryers, vacuums, scrubbers, and other cleaning tools necessary for effective performance.
The physical aspects of this job include lifting and carrying objects of varying weights (up to 100 pounds with assistance), pushing and pulling equipment, and exposure to indoor and outdoor environments with occasional temperature extremes. Housekeepers at Benchmark Senior Living often assist residents by using gait belts and other mobility aids, highlighting the importance of physical fitness and a compassionate approach. Safety remains a top priority, with mandatory use of personal protective equipment, regular health screenings including TB tests and flu shots, and adherence to PPE protocols such as proper use of N95 respirators.
Overall, this position offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals who take pride in maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in a community dedicated to senior care. Benchmark Senior Living ensures that employees receive ongoing support, comprehensive training, and a respectful working environment focused on collaboration and excellence.
