Job Description

We are currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our team. This full-time role plays a critical part in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of patient rooms, surgical areas, public spaces, and specialized hospital zones. The technician will be responsible for selecting and preparing cleaning materials and solutions, ensuring thorough cleaning after patient discharge, and maintaining stock and care of linens. This position demands adherence to hospital and CDC guidelines, especially for cleaning isolation rooms and handling hazardous waste. Expertise in using cleaning equipment safely and following infection control protocols is essential. The technician will also support the Environmental Services Director in managing cleaning operations and contribute to upholding our organization's values and mission through effective execution of duties. This role not only supports patient care but also enhances the overall environment of our hospital, thereby improving patient satisfaction and safety outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in hospital or healthcare environmental services
  • ability to follow cleaning guidelines
  • knowledge of infection control standards
  • ability to safely operate cleaning equipment
  • physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting and moving supplies
  • willingness to work flexible hours

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Selects cleaning materials and supplies and prepares solutions according to procedure
  • loads service cart and transports to work area
  • cleans entire patient rooms after each patient is discharged including changing bed, thoroughly cleaning floor, bathroom, bedside table, and blinds
  • cleans surgical, cath lab, areas as assigned
  • dusts, vacuums, mops and sweeps as needed in all areas of the hospital
  • maintains sufficient stock and a good quality of linen to provide for day to day use reporting to the Director, Environmental Services any problem that may arise with the linen
  • assists with cleaning of floors as instructed by the Director, Environmental Services
