Job Description
St. John's Hospital Camarillo is a respected healthcare facility committed to providing high-quality medical care and services to the community. As part of the larger CommonSpirit Health network, which was established through the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, St. John's Hospital benefits from an extensive system that includes over 700 care sites across the United States. These sites range from hospitals and clinics to home-based and virtual care services, making CommonSpirit accessible to nearly one in four U.S. residents. CommonSpirit Health is dedicated not only to excellent healthcare but also to advocating for vulnerable populations and innovating healthcare delivery to meet community needs. This foundation of compassion, community engagement, and innovation fosters a supportive environment at St. John's Hospital, where every employee plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of building healthier communities and ensuring quality care for all.
The Housekeeper - Environmental Services role at St. John's Hospital Camarillo is crucial for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment essential to the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors. In this position, you will work either independently or collaboratively with other team members to clean and sanitize patient rooms, common areas, and other hospital spaces following established disinfection and cleaning protocols. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to hygiene are paramount. Responsibilities include proper collection and disposal of waste, including biohazardous materials, as well as stocking supplies needed in patient and common areas.
The role is designed for individuals with previous housekeeping experience, particularly in healthcare settings, who are familiar with proper handling and disposal of infectious waste and chemical safety procedures. Experience with heavy-duty cleaning equipment like buffer extractors, wide area vacuums, and wet vacuums is highly valued. The position is represented by the Service Employees International Union United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU UHW) and comes under the terms and conditions of their collective bargaining agreement. Employees are compensated fairly, with a pay range between $24.00 and $24.86 per hour. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring a sanitary environment that supports healing and wellbeing. Joining the team means becoming part of a larger mission committed to compassionate care and excellence across one of California's leading healthcare providers.
