Job Description
Taylor University is a renowned institution committed to fostering servant-leaders who are passionate about ministering Christ's redemptive love, grace, and truth to a world in need. As a community, Taylor faculty, staff, and students engage in living out Christ's love and truth, worshiping together, serving one another, and growing in faith through various campus activities. This commitment reflects in every aspect of university life including academic learning, athletics, chapel services, and community involvement, creating a nurturing environment where personal and spiritual growth are equally prioritized.
This position of Housekeeper plays a vital role at Taylor University by ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned campus facilities. The role involves regular housekeeping tasks to maintain the environment's cleanliness, organization, and maintenance in accordance with the University's high standards. The Housekeeper is responsible for general cleaning duties, which include mopping, vacuuming, trash disposal, and restocking supplies in various campus areas such as restrooms, lobbies, offices, classrooms, dining spaces, and auditoriums. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and adherence to safety protocols are essential attributes for this position.
Moreover, the Housekeeper must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors, fostering a respectful and welcoming atmosphere throughout the university. The role also requires collaboration with team members and multiple departments to address specific cleaning needs, seasonal priorities, and project-based assignments. This ensures that the University’s facilities remain clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
In addition, the Housekeeper ensures building-specific responsibilities are met diligently, accommodating changes dictated by seasonal variations or special projects. This position can occasionally demand physical activity including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling, navigating stairs, and adapting to environmental conditions such as exposure to dust, odors, loud noises, and temperature extremes. Weekend overtime and duties during special events may also be necessary. The Housekeeper contributes significantly to the University’s mission by maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment that supports learning, spiritual growth, and community engagement.
