Job Requirements
- Education and/or experience in housekeeping work directly related to the job
- ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds
- valid North Carolina Driver's License
- willingness to perform physically strenuous activities such as lifting heavy objects, moving furniture, and operating heavy equipment
- successful completion of a law enforcement background check
- pass drug screening tests as per county policy
- adherence to departmental dress code policy including guidelines related to tattoos and body piercings
- availability to assist in emergency and/or disaster situations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred
- one year of experience in custodial maintenance of public or commercial buildings preferred
- knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work
- ability to operate power custodial equipment effectively and safely
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to manage time and follow periodic cleaning schedules
- strong communication skills
- ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
- knowledge of cleaning specifications and requirements for commercial or public buildings
Job Duties
- Ensures that doors are locked and other security measures are followed
- cleans and services assigned areas daily including rooms, halls, and stairways
- sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, buffs floors, shampoos carpets as needed
- cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies daily or more frequently
- empties and cleans waste receptacles and disposes trash properly
- washes walls, windows, shelves, mirrors, and horizontal surfaces
- picks up trash from grounds and parking areas and performs outside maintenance
- dusts, washes, and polishes furniture and woodwork
- replenishes supplies of paper, soap, and cleaning materials
- reports needed supplies, equipment, or repairs to supervisor
- cleans and maintains power equipment and cleaning tools
- removes stains using appropriate chemicals and cleaning solutions
- delivers waste materials for recycling when assigned
- moves furniture
- performs other related duties as required or assigned
