Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- experience working in a long term care facility preferred
- ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions
- basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- fluent in written and spoken English
- occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk and talk, read or hear
- ensure safe usage of housekeeping supplies and equipment
- maintain a safe work environment with low to moderate noise and smell levels

Job Duties
- Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors
- maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms
- maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris
- clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, towel dispensers
- empty trash cans and replace liners
- sweep and mop floors
- utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents
- use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions
- maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner
- notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns
- notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished
- demonstrate excellent customer skills and positive attitude
- manage time effectively
- work independently or with a team
