The role of Line Cook/Cashier is a pivotal position within our restaurant, blending culinary expertise with outstanding customer service. In this dual-role, you will be responsible not only for preparing food according to precise chef specifications but also for serving as the initial point of contact for our customers. This means greeting guests, taking and processing their orders, and ensuring they leave satisfied. As a Line Cook, your daily tasks will include assisting the chef with various kitchen duties such as setting up and stocking stations, preparing ingredients, cooking menu items collaboratively with kitchen staff, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

Simultaneously, as a Cashier, you will be responsible for delivering top-notch customer service by efficiently handling food orders, accurately entering them into the POS system, processing payments, and assisting customers with any inquiries or special requests. Your role will involve coordinating the preparation and packaging or plating of orders to ensure timely delivery that exceeds customer expectations. This dual responsibility demands excellent multitasking skills, an eye for detail, and a friendly, professional demeanor.

Job Requirements

  • Proven cooking experience including experience as a restaurant cook or prep cook
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices
  • Proven experience in a customer service role is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Culinary school diploma is a plus

Job Duties

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow chef’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Welcome customers and help determine their orders
  • Process customer orders and record them in the POS system
  • Ensure all orders are delivered to the customers in a timely manner
  • Respond to customer inquiries, process payments, issue receipts and change, and record customer suggestions
