The Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova is a distinguished full-service hotel located in the vibrant Rancho Cordova area near Sacramento, California. As part of the globally recognized Marriott International brand, this property boasts 265 beautifully renovated rooms and 13,000 square feet of versatile meeting space that caters to a variety of business and social events. The hotel recently underwent a comprehensive top-to-bottom renovation, elevating its amenities and guest services to provide an enhanced and modern hospitality experience. This commitment to quality and excellence solidifies the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova as a premier destination for travelers, corporate clients, and event planners.\n\nWe are currently seeking a seasoned and ambitious Sales Manager to join our dynamic Sales Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in promoting our revitalized property and reestablishing our reputation in the forward-thinking hospitality market. The Sales Manager will focus on securing group bookings, room blocks, and conferences specifically within assigned market segments including Sports, Military, Education, Religious, Fraternal, and Specialty markets. With a target of groups consisting of 10 or more rooms on peak nights, this position demands a results-driven individual adept at negotiation, client relationship management, and strategic selling.\n\nThe ideal candidate will demonstrate strong skills in generating group proposals, negotiating sales contracts, and maintaining effective communication with clients, guests, and team members. Proactivity and assertiveness are key traits, combined with a fast-paced attitude and a deep understanding of market trends, segment competition, and economic conditions. This position also requires proficiency with technology systems including Microsoft Office and familiarity with Delphi sales software preferred. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $74,500 depending on experience, with additional bonus potential. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant hotel sales experience
  • Proven track record in group sales and event booking
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Delphi sales system preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years hotel sales and/or catering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience at a hotel of similar size and quality including 3-4 Diamond rating, 200 guestrooms or higher, and at least 10,000 sq. ft. of space
  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations and advanced sales techniques
  • Proven selling, negotiating, and presentation skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Social Tables
  • Marriott CI/TY experience preferred
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, and creative leader who thrives under pressure and can multitask effectively
  • Ability to delegate, train, and coach team members
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through cold calling, outside sales calls, networking, and referrals
  • Prepare contracts, proposals, and supporting documents and coordinate with internal teams for seamless execution
  • Identify and convert leads using creative selling techniques to secure business
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed goals
  • Manage client relationships and build rapport with new and existing clients
  • Conduct site inspections and participate in industry events and networking opportunities
  • Display leadership in guest hospitality ensuring high-level service throughout all phases of events
  • Respond effectively to guest feedback, problems, and complaints
  • Manage production goals on a quarterly basis and ensure event profitability
  • Follow up post-event to ensure client satisfaction and encourage repeat business
