This role is for a Front Desk Agent at one of Kinseth Hotel Corporation's hotel properties. The position is hourly, paying $18.00 an hour, and includes a rotating weekend schedule with three 9-hour shifts. The Front Desk Agent is the face of the hotel, responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests throughout their stay. This position involves greeting guests, managing reservations, issuing room keys, and ensuring smooth check-in and check-out processes. As the initial point of contact, the agent plays a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and supporting guest satisfaction.

The Front Desk Agent also acts as the manager on duty during their shift, ensuring that the hotel's operational standards and guest services are maintained. This includes addressing guest concerns, managing emergency procedures, and handling financial transactions accurately. The role requires attention to detail in balancing accounts, processing payments, and conducting night audit procedures to ensure accurate reporting and financial controls.

Additionally, the position involves communicating effectively with other hotel departments to address guest requests and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lobby and front desk areas. Employees in this role must adhere to all company policies, including dress code, safety standards, and performance expectations, ensuring a professional image is maintained at all times.

The physical demands of this position require the employee to be alert and active during overnight shifts, possess the ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed, and use fine motor skills for computer tasks and communication. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work three 9-hour shifts including alternating weekends
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk and maintain alertness throughout the shift
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow KHC policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain a professional image
  • Willingness to work night shifts
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to handle cash and balance accounts accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hotel front desk or customer service preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Proficient in basic computer applications
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work night shifts including overnights
  • Knowledge of hotel management software is a plus
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems efficiently

Job Duties

  • Greet guests, register guests, suggestively sell hotel rooms, issue room keys, assign rooms to guests, set wake up calls in an efficient, warm and friendly manner
  • Act as hotel manager on duty and follow prescribed MOD procedures on communication, emergency procedures and guest satisfaction
  • Enter daily changes and balance accounts such as guest, house, guest tray, city ledger and advance deposits, reset system for the next business day
  • Ensure night audit procedures are completed accurately and timely
  • Enter information and print night audit reports per night audit guidelines
  • Ensure guest safety by following established security procedures including fire/tornado procedures, key security and guest privacy
  • Date stamp, sort, and rack incoming mail, faxes and messages
  • Record and communicate guest special requests and problems to appropriate departments and ensure timely resolution
  • Answer inquiries about hotel services, guest registration, local attractions and provide travel directions
  • Accurately check out guests and communicate departures with housekeeping staff
  • Compute bill, collect payment, make change for guests and make deposits according to KHC cash handling procedures
  • Make, confirm and cancel reservations via telephone, computer and in writing
  • Answer and route internal and external phone calls in an articulate, friendly manner
  • Post charges such as hotel room, food, liquor, or telephone to ledger
  • Deposit guests' valuables in hotel safe or safe deposit box
  • Maintain the shift-to-shift log for proper communication
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the hotel lobby and front desk
  • Wash, fold and properly store laundry depending on business unit
