This opportunity is for a full-time Houseperson position at the Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott, with shift hours from 9 am to 5 pm, including availability on weekdays and weekends. This role is essential to maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the hotel in alignment with brand standards and company expectations. The Houseperson supports the housekeeping team by ensuring all public areas, corridors, and guestrooms are clean, organized, and welcoming. With a focus on delivering excellent guest service, the Houseperson contributes significantly to an attractive hotel environment that meets guest satisfaction goals.
The Houseperson's primary duties include cleaning and maintaining various areas of the hotel such as guest hallways, public spaces, and guest rooms. Tasks involve dusting, sweeping, scrubbing floors, washing walls, windows, door panels, and sills, vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture, and managing trash removal. This role also includes detailed cleaning responsibilities like shampooing carpets, polishing floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines. Additionally, the Houseperson assists housekeepers with servicing rooms by stripping beds, removing trash, bagging linens, and transporting laundry. A commitment to safety is critical, including the careful use of cleaning chemicals and proper handling of hotel equipment to avoid property damage. Prompt reporting of maintenance issues and active guest engagement are also vital to this role, ensuring guests’ needs are anticipated and met promptly.
Candidates for this position should be physically capable of performing demanding duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and engaging in movements like kneeling, bending, crawling, squatting, and crouching. The ability to work with various cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently is crucial. Moreover, excellent verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor are expected to maintain positive interactions with guests and colleagues. The hotel provides daily pay with access to up to 50% of earned wages after every shift, supporting employees’ financial flexibility. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior housekeeping or environmental services experience
- ability to work weekdays, weekends, and flexible hours
- strong communication skills
- physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, kneel, bend, crawl, squat, and crouch
- knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment safety
Job Qualifications
- prior housekeeping experience or other relevant environmental services experience
- must be available to work any hours/days of week necessary to meet business requirements
- excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
- maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance
- knowledge of cleaning techniques and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals
Job Duties
- cleans hotel according to standards and within required timeframes including dusting furniture, sweeping, washing walls, scrubbing floors, washing windows, doors panels and sills, emptying trash, vacuuming carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, cleaning bathroom
- maintains guest hallways ensuring they are neat, clean and free of linen and trash
- completes work projects as assigned by supervisor and management
- cleans and polishes floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines
- vacuums, shampoos, and removes soiled spots from carpets as required
- removes all litter from public spaces
- transports trash and waste to disposal areas
- supports housekeepers by assisting with room servicing including stripping beds, removing trash, bagging linen and transporting to laundry
- aids guests by delivering requested service items and amenities to guestrooms
- uses housekeeping chemicals as necessary to clean assigned areas to standard
- prevents damage to hotel property by exercising proper caution with chemicals and equipment
- ensures proper maintenance and repair of hotel equipment by reporting maintenance requests timely
- actively engages guests by identifying and meeting their needs
