The open position is for a Group Sales Manager at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Raleigh-Durham Airport/RTP, a role that is critical in driving the hotel’s sales efforts and boosting its revenue. This is a full-time role offering competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance fully paid after three years, dental and vision insurance, and a matching 401K plan. The Group Sales Manager will be extensively trained and supported with professional development, responsive corporate assistance, and a collaborative work environment. The primary focus of the role is to generate top-line revenue by meeting or surpassing sales goals through the development of new accounts and growth of existing hotel accounts.

In this role, the Sales Manager will implement direct sales strategies by targeting high-potential accounts through appointment-oriented sales calls aligned with established marketing plans and budget guidelines. They will maximize key account relationships by maintaining continuous communication and delivering custom solutions that meet the clients' evolving needs. This involves conducting regular phone calls, client functions, tours, and professional correspondence. An essential responsibility is capturing and converting new accounts by leveraging research, networking, telemarketing, and proactive outreach. Maintaining organized client files and effective trace systems will be necessary to ensure responsive follow-ups and superior service.

The Sales Manager also participates actively in associate and client events, community engagement, business planning, and all relevant meetings including revenue management discussions. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills, sound business decision-making, and ethical conduct, with a need for flexibility in schedule including weekend availability. Candidates must be equipped with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for off-site sales activities. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of direct hotel sales experience
  • College degree or equivalent sales experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet clients on and off premises including property tours and functions
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment and use a computer
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and business decision-making skills
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Physical mobility to perform job duties as described

Job Qualifications

  • Direct hotel sales experience of at least 2-3 years
  • Knowledge of general sales techniques and revenue management
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications including Word and Excel
  • Skilled in electronic communication including email
  • Strong problem-solving and sound business decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all hotel staff levels
  • Strong guest relations skills
  • College degree or equivalent sales experience
  • Ability to influence customers effectively to close deals
  • Excellent judgment and high ethical standards
  • Flexible schedule accommodating weekends

Job Duties

  • Achieve productivity and activity sales goals by targeting accounts with appointment-oriented sales calls aligned with marketing plans and budget
  • Maximize key hotel accounts by maintaining close contact and addressing client needs proactively
  • Research, network, and telemarket to capture and convert new accounts
  • Maintain accurate and organized client files and develop effective trace systems for superior client service
  • Participate in associate functions, client and community events to enhance networking and business development
  • Assist in business plan development with general manager, marketing manager, and corporate director of sales
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and actively participate in revenue management discussions
  • Complete and submit weekly and monthly sales call reports
  • Exhibit a positive team attitude and maintain open communication with hotel staff
  • Build and maintain rapport with competitor hotels, clients, and the local community
