Job Description
This job opportunity is for a Resident Hotel General Manager position at a residential hotel that values dignity, respect, and exceptional guest and employee satisfaction. The establishment offers a unique living experience, providing a deluxe 2-bedroom suite with all housing expenses paid, allowing the General Manager to live on-site and immerse fully in the hotel environment. This role is integral to managing daily operations of the hotel while achieving planned revenue and profit goals. The successful candidate will serve as a role model, exemplifying professionalism and leadership in an independent capacity within company guidelines, without the need for constant supervision.
The Resident Hotel General Manager will have a pivotal role within the extended-stay sector of hospitality, focusing not just on operational excellence but also on meaningful interactions with guests. This means understanding and valuing each individual guest’s needs, enhancing the extended-stay experience, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel emphasizes a culture of respect and empowerment, where the General Manager’s leadership directly influences both guest satisfaction and employee morale.
Financial responsibility is a significant aspect of this position. The General Manager will oversee the annual budget, forecasting changes in operating expenses and labor costs, and providing detailed business forecasts to manage costs strategically. This involves direct control over staffing schedules, expense management according to business demands, and energy management to ensure operational efficiency. Collaboration with the Revenue Management Department requires offering competitive market analysis and forecasts related to local events, impacting occupancy and rates. Moreover, the General Manager will assist with sales efforts, staff training on promotional selling techniques, and making data-driven decisions to maintain profit margins by adjusting controllable expenses based on monthly revenue forecasts.
Guest and employee satisfaction are also central to the role. The General Manager will personally respond to guest complaints and feedback, aiming to maintain high satisfaction scores through the Medallia guest survey system. Leadership in human resources management encompasses payroll administration, personnel transactions, and fostering fair treatment of employees. Conducting wage surveys to ensure competitive compensation, delivering ethical leadership, and managing employee turnover are critical components of workforce management. The goal is to sustain employee engagement and a positive work environment, thereby supporting the hotel’s reputation and operational success.
This position offers a comprehensive compensation package that includes a salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, plus $30,000 value in free housing and an additional $12,000 bonus, culminating in an all-inclusive package valued between $107,000 and $112,000 annually. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching up to 6 percent, short and long-term disability income, term life and AD&D insurance, and generous paid time off including vacation, holidays, and sick leave. The provided accommodations are pet-friendly and include utilities and high-speed internet, enhancing the living experience at the hotel.
The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced, resourceful hospitality professional with a passion for managing a residential hotel environment, excelling in independent decision-making, financial acumen, and genuine guest interaction. By joining this hotel as the Resident General Manager, you will be at the forefront of delivering an exceptional extended-stay experience, fostering a positive culture for staff, and driving the hotel’s financial and operational success while enjoying an attractive compensation and benefits package.
