As a hospitality company, McKibbon embraces its Guiding Principles: Think Bigger, Love Your Community, Do the Right Thing, Support Each Other, and Make a Lasting Impression, reflecting a commitment not only to its guests but also to its associates.
The role of the Hotel General Maintenance Technician at McKibbon Hospitality is a crucial support position working directly under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and General Manager. This role demands a diverse skill set encompassing various construction and repair trades including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, swimming pool maintenance, painting, and caulking. The technician plays an integral part in ensuring the efficient ongoing operation of the hotel, skillfully handling preventive maintenance tasks and any necessary repairs to minimize disruptions to guests' comfort and safety. A key focus is maintaining a safe, well-kept environment, supporting both team members and guests alike. This role requires a professional who can handle responsibilities independently while promoting an atmosphere of cooperation with other hotel associates.
In this dynamic position, the Hotel General Maintenance Technician will be tasked with monitoring the hotel’s facilities, identifying maintenance needs, and responding proactively to potential problems. The technician will adhere to company safety guidelines meticulously and take care to maintain the operational functionality of all hotel equipment, including fire safety devices. Effective communication skills are essential as the technician interacts regularly with management, engineering staff, hotel employees, and guests, always reflecting McKibbon’s commitment to respectful and friendly service.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a similar maintenance role and will bring practical knowledge in using hand tools, performing tests on various systems, and handling chemicals safely, especially for pools and spas. Experience in hotel maintenance is highly valued to ensure familiarity with hospitality industry standards. Physical stamina is equally important, as the job requires activities like climbing stairs, walking extensive distances throughout the day, frequent kneeling, standing, and working in diverse indoor and outdoor conditions.
McKibbon Hospitality offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time associates that includes medical, dental, vision, life and pet insurance, plus short and long-term disability coverage. Employees also enjoy paid time off, holidays, tuition assistance, and a competitive compensation structure with incentives. The company fosters career growth through training programs and supports employee wellness through various programs including 401K matching, referral bonuses, volunteer opportunities, and exclusive hotel rate discounts.
Overall, this role is perfect for a hands-on maintenance professional who is proactive, reliable, and eager to contribute to a supportive team environment within the hospitality industry. By joining McKibbon Hospitality as a Hotel General Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a respected company that truly values its people and provides meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.
