Job Description

Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is a premier hospitality and event destination located in Kissimmee, Florida. This expansive resort offers luxurious accommodations, state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, and a variety of on-site dining and entertainment options. Known for its tropical ambiance and world-class service, Gaylord Palms caters to both leisure travelers and large event groups, creating memorable experiences in a vibrant setting. The resort emphasizes guest satisfaction through attentive service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency across all departments, including its engineering and facilities teams.

The Resort is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Engineer to join its Engineering and Facilities team in a full-time, non-management capacity. This role focuses on ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of the resort's extensive physical infrastructure, which includes HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical components, mechanical equipment, and more. The preferred schedule for this position is the overnight shift, offering an hourly wage of $25.76. The Engineer will be responsible for responding to guest repair requests and performing preventive maintenance tasks to uphold the highest safety and quality standards.

The Engineer will operate with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills across multiple engineering disciplines such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, pneumatics, carpentry, and general building management. This role requires advanced knowledge of reading blueprints and electrical schematics and proficiency in using engineering computer programs for maintenance and energy management. Additionally, the Engineer will ensure compliance with all local and national codes while performing repairs, safely handle tools and materials, and adhere to strict safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Beyond technical expertise, the Engineer will play an integral part in promoting a positive guest experience by addressing guest maintenance issues promptly and professionally. This includes effective communication with guests and team members, anticipating service needs, and maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary information. Physical demands of the job include the ability to move and lift objects up to 50 pounds and maneuver through various site environments including stairs and ladders. The role also involves mentoring and training fellow engineers when necessary and performing Engineer on Duty responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive maintenance experience, particularly within a hotel or resort environment, and hold required certifications such as Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and a valid driver’s license.

This position is not remote and requires onsite presence at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. The Engineer is encouraged to uphold the resort's commitment to safety, professionalism, and operational excellence while supporting the collective goals of the Engineering and Facilities team and ensuring all equipment and infrastructure operate efficiently to enhance the guest experience.
