The role being offered is a full-time Engineering and Facilities position at W Nashville, specifically designed for non-management candidates who are eager to contribute to the seamless operation and maintenance of the hotel. This position involves working day and overnight shifts, ensuring continuous support for the hotel’s physical infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The job demands a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, the position requires proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical schematics, along with expertise in various technical areas such as HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, and general building management.

The maintenance engineer at W Nashville plays a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of the property by ensuring all equipment and systems are functioning safely and efficiently. The role includes the physical aspects of lifting, bending, and moving objects, as well as technical tasks such as using the Lockout/Tagout safety system and advanced troubleshooting skills. Job Requirements

  • Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements
  • Ability to perform highly complex repairs with little or no supervision
  • Ability to train and mentor other engineers
  • Strong general mechanical ability
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, general building management
  • Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and security policies and procedures
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work day and overnight shifts
  • Willingness to comply with all company standards and quality expectations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Vocational or technical background
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration
  • Experience with parts inventory and requisition
  • Experience with exterior and interior surface preparation and painting
  • At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification

Job Duties

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • Carry equipment such as tools and radio
  • Identify and operate all shut-off valves for equipment
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
