This role is a full-time, non-management position within the Engineering and Facilities category at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, offering an hourly pay range of $21.50 to $22.05. The position is pivotal in maintaining the operational integrity of the hotel’s infrastructure, ensuring that guest environments remain safe, comfortable, and fully functional at all times. The Engineer I position involves responding promptly to guest repair requests, addressing maintenance issues independently, and performing routine preventive maintenance on a variety of tools and equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency across multiple technical areas including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and energy conservation.

Engineers in this role are responsible for carrying essential tools and equipment to efficiently handle repair tasks, inspecting machines for preventative maintenance, and performing mid-level troubleshooting on complex hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. They will also assist with minor painting, drywall repairs, and general finishing tasks that contribute to the hotel's upkeep. The position demands a strong understanding of safety procedures, including the use of Lockout/Tagout systems, and adherence to company policies regarding safety, security, and maintenance reporting. The role also involves effective communication across shifts and a commitment to teamwork and guest service excellence.

In addition to technical skills, the Engineer I acts as a vital representative of the hotel’s brand by welcoming guests warmly, anticipating their needs, assisting those with disabilities, and ensuring the hotel’s appearance and environment reflect the highest standards. The Engineer I should be physically capable of performing various manual tasks such as lifting, reaching, stooping, and climbing ladders as required by daily maintenance activities. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • vocational or technical background
  • at least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
  • experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting
  • valid driver’s license
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
  • meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Respond to guest repair requests
  • communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
  • perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • carry equipment such as tools and radios
  • identify and operate all shut-off valves
  • maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts
  • communicate daily activities and problems across shifts
  • display proficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and building management
  • safely use hand and power tools
  • repair or replace PVC copper pipe including soldering
  • troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing and electrical equipment
  • program TVs and assist with housekeeping and engineering duties
  • assist with painting, drywall, wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement
  • use Lockout/Tagout system
  • operate engineering computer programs
  • perform mid-level troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • train and mentor other engineers
  • perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
  • follow company safety and security policies
  • report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents or injuries
  • complete safety training and certifications
  • store flammable materials properly
  • maintain clean and professional appearance
  • protect company assets
