Job Description
The Miami Airport Marriott is a premier full-service hotel situated in the heart of Miami, Florida. Known for its exceptional hospitality and comprehensive guest services, it caters to both business and leisure travelers, offering modern amenities, comfortable accommodations, and a vibrant environment. The hotel operates in a highly dynamic sector of the hospitality industry, focusing on delivering outstanding guest experiences and maintaining impeccable facility standards. With a commitment to excellence and sustainability, the Miami Airport Marriott ensures that each guest encounter is memorable by combining quality service with well-maintained infrastructure.
Within this esteemed establishment, the Full-Time Overnight Maintenance Engineer position plays a critical role in sustaining the smooth operation of the hotel's facilities. This non-management role is designed for hands-on professionals who are skilled at addressing a wide range of maintenance challenges while working the overnight shift. The engineer is tasked with responding promptly to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, and ensuring that all systems are running optimally with minimal supervision. This involves a full spectrum of responsibilities, including troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, as well as maintaining general building systems.
The role demands a high level of technical proficiency across various disciplines such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building management. The candidate will also demonstrate solid hands-on skills in using power tools, repairing pipes, and replacing parts. Additionally, this position involves daily communication between shifts to ensure seamless continuity in maintenance activities.
Beyond technical tasks, the Overnight Maintenance Engineer embodies the customer service ethos of the Miami Airport Marriott. Interaction with guests calls for professionalism, promptness, and courteous communication to quickly resolve maintenance issues without disrupting the guest experience. The engineer also plays a key role in implementing safety protocols, including compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures and proper handling of flammable materials.
Candidates are expected to have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent with vocational or technical background, along with a minimum of two years' experience in hotel engineering or maintenance. Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification is mandatory, along with valid driver’s license. The position offers an opportunity to work in an engaging environment where professional development and collaborative teamwork are prioritized. While no supervisory experience is required, the ability to mentor junior engineers and take on Engineer on Duty responsibilities is highly valued.
Embracing a role at the Miami Airport Marriott means joining a team committed to excellence in operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. The full-time overnight schedule suits individuals who thrive in quieter, focused work periods and enjoy a balance of technical challenges and customer interaction. The hotel supports its employees with various training and certifications to foster skill growth and ensures adherence to all safety and security policies. The successful candidate will contribute to the hotel's reputation as a leading hospitality venue and help maintain its infrastructure at peak performance standards, ensuring every guest visit is a pleasant experience.
