Job Description
Washington Marriott Georgetown is a premier hotel located in the heart of Washington, D.C., offering guests an exceptional lodging experience complemented by superior services and rich local culture. As part of Marriott International, a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, this establishment is committed to delivering excellence in guest experiences through innovation, hospitality, and meticulous attention to facility maintenance. The hotel serves business and leisure travelers alike, featuring elegant rooms, modern amenities, event spaces, and dining options, all supported by a professional team dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
The role of Maintenance Technician at Washington Marriott Georgetown is a full-time, non-management position designed for individuals passionate about technical repair and maintenance in a dynamic hotel environment. The position offers a competitive pay range of $27.69 to $36.92 per hour, providing a stable and rewarding career path for those interested in honing their skills in building and equipment maintenance. This position is vital in ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general facility equipment operate efficiently to guarantee guest satisfaction and safety.
The Maintenance Technician will respond promptly to guest repair requests and collaborate directly with guests and customers to resolve various maintenance issues swiftly and professionally. The technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication of kitchen tools and mechanical room equipment, and the comprehensive upkeep of all hotel assets. This includes inspecting and maintaining tools and machines, managing maintenance inventory, and requisitioning necessary parts and supplies.
In addition to routine maintenance, the technician must be knowledgeable or willing to develop expertise in areas such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building repair. Responsibilities also encompass painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, bulb and filter replacements, and thorough cleanup of work areas. The job involves troubleshooting and repairing plumbing (such as plunging toilets and unclogging drains), electrical components (lamps, switches, outlets), and other guestroom items. Programming TVs and inventory duties relevant to housekeeping and engineering are also part of the job.
Safety is paramount; the job requires adherence to company safety policies, including the use of Lockout/Tagout procedures, completing safety training, and proper storage of hazardous materials. The Maintenance Technician must communicate effectively with team members and guests, maintain a professional and clean appearance, and uphold confidentiality and protection of company assets. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, moving objects with assistance, navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders, and performing tasks that require bending, twisting, and reaching.
This position does not require supervisory experience but favors candidates with related work experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, painting, and preferably hotel engineering or maintenance experience. A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required for the role. The Maintenance Technician at Washington Marriott Georgetown plays a fundamental role in creating an environment where guests feel welcomed, safe, and well cared for, contributing directly to the hotel’s reputation and operational excellence.
