The Maintenance Technician position at Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk is a full-time, non-management role that offers hourly pay of $18.25. This role is ideal for individuals who are skilled in a variety of maintenance and repair tasks and who thrive in a dynamic hospitality environment. The technician will be responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests and maintaining various mechanical and electrical systems within the hotel. This position requires good communication skills as it involves direct interaction with guests to resolve maintenance issues effectively and professionally.

The role encompasses a broad scope of duties, including preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical equipment. This includes cleaning, lubricating, and visually inspecting equipment to ensure everything is in optimal working order. The technician must be familiar with operating and identifying shut-off valves for both equipment and building utilities, ensuring safety and efficient operation. Maintaining maintenance inventory and requisitioning parts and supplies as needed are also essential parts of the job.

Key technical skills include knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry, finish skills, and kitchen equipment. The technician is also responsible for surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, and replacement of light bulbs and air conditioning filters.

Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting and basic repair on equipment, plumbing components, electrical devices, cosmetic repairs, and guestroom items. The technician will also program TVs, perform housekeeping and inventory duties related to engineering, and follow strict safety protocols such as the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work. The job also includes responsibilities related to interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler system repairs.

This position requires basic computer skills for scheduling and temperature control adjustments. Safety, security policies, and procedures must be rigorously followed, including proper reporting of hazards or incidents and safe storage of flammable materials. Personal appearance and professionalism are expected at all times, along with confidentiality and protection of company assets.

The ideal candidate will welcome and acknowledge guests warmly, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and provide excellent customer service that aligns with Sheraton’s standards. This role also demands physical capabilities such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds, moving on stairs or ladders, and performing a range of physical movements.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience in general maintenance, painting, or hotel engineering. A valid driver’s license is required. Job Duties

  • respond and attend to guest repair requests
