Job Description
Royle Hotel Milwaukee Airport, soon to be rebranded as the Radisson Hotel Milwaukee Airport, is a dynamic and growing hospitality establishment featuring 178 rooms and 20,000 square feet of versatile meeting space. Situated in a prime location near Milwaukee's airport, this property caters to both business and leisure travelers, offering high-quality accommodations along with extensive event and catering services. The hotel is operated under ROI Hospitality, a company known for fostering a passionate and fun work culture where team members are encouraged to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully. The transition to the Radisson brand underscores the hotel's commitment to excellence, modern guest experiences, and expanding its footprint in the competitive Milwaukee hospitality market.
This role of Director of Sales & Catering is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the sales strategy and enhancing the revenue streams of the hotel. The incumbent will focus on increasing occupancy levels and maximizing revenue by targeting both group and transient customers through aggressive solicitation and personalized sales efforts. Reporting to senior leadership, this position demands a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, requiring continual engagement with clients, collaboration with hotel management, and active participation in market activities and promotional campaigns.
The Director of Sales & Catering will lead a dedicated team, including oversight of the Sales Coordinator, and spearhead all catering operations—from sales strategies to event planning and banquet execution. A key part of this role is building and maintaining strong client relationships, negotiating contracts to balance profitability with client satisfaction, and leveraging hotel amenities including the extensive meeting spaces to attract diverse business segments such as corporate meetings, social gatherings, and group events.
This position demands an individual who is highly motivated, target-driven, and exceptional at relationship management. The Director will utilize various sales tools and customer relationship management systems to maintain an active sales pipeline, ensuring a targeted goal of over 60 qualified sales calls every two weeks. Responsibilities extend beyond sales to include administrative duties such as sales reporting, updating the Delphi sales trace system, and coordinating hotel advertising and social media efforts.
On the catering side, the Director is accountable for mentoring and developing the catering team, optimizing space utilization, managing pricing strategies, and liaising with other hotel departments to guarantee a seamless event experience. Understanding and adapting to industry trends, competitor dynamics, and guest expectations is essential to maintaining the hotel's leadership position in catering excellence.
The role offers a competitive compensation package with bonus opportunities and is supported by a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plans, paid time off, holiday pay incentives, hotel discounts worldwide, and professional development opportunities. Occasional travel within the hotel market is required to foster relationships and expand business opportunities.
Candidates for this role should come equipped with several years of hotel sales experience, preferably within brands like Choice or Radisson, and demonstrate a strong command of hospitality sales and catering management practices. Proficiency in property management and CRM systems, alongside excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor, are critical for success in this multifaceted leadership role.
