The Hot Prep Cook position at OHJOI is a full-time role that focuses on the preparation of all hot food items for both patient and non-patient food services. This role requires a strong understanding of food preparation techniques and a commitment to following production plans and recipes, as assigned by the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader. The Hot Prep Cook is responsible for preparing meals that are nutritious, safe, and visually appealing while adhering to strict food safety standards including HACCP guidelines. This position requires individuals who can collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, maintain cleanliness and sanitation, and demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the kitchen when necessary. The role also emphasizes the importance of communication within the food service team to ensure patient and departmental needs are met efficiently.
Candidates for this position should have at least six months of experience in fast food or kitchen food production. The ideal candidate will be familiar with essential food safety and infection control practices and be willing to contribute beyond their primary duties to support the kitchen's overall functionality. This role requires punctuality, reliability, and adherence to Orlando Health's policies and procedures related to workplace conduct and health standards. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are necessary to respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints and to handle simple correspondence effectively. Job Duties
- Prepare hot food items according to recipes and production plans
- Assist in tray assembly and preparation of special diet needs such as puree meals and supplements
- Follow food service sanitation and infection control procedures, adhering to HACCP guidelines
- Communicate effectively with Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, and kitchen team about patient and departmental needs
- Assist in other kitchen areas including cold prep, bakery, storeroom, café serving line, dish room, or tray line as needed
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to Orlando Health policies
- Comply with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
