The current opening is for a Part-Time Hot Foods Food Server, primarily scheduled for afternoon shifts. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless customer experience for patrons purchasing prepared food items either by the pound or individual servings. The Food Server works within the Hot Foods Department maintaining product display, portion control, payment processing, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Beyond food handling, this position contributes to the overall upkeep of the department including restocking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe environment throughout the store. The position requires frequent interaction with customers, which mandates a friendly attitude, clear communication skills, and the ability to abide by company procedures and legal requirements.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree preferred
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Previous food service experience
- Current food safety training certificate required and must be renewed every three years

- Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to effectively present and receive information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with managers, customers and the general public
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Basic math and numeral recognition
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to use department equipment properly
- Possess adequate knife handling skills

- Ability to work scheduled hours and days, including holidays and weekends
Job Duties
- Attend to customers' requests promptly for department food products
- Properly handle, display and dispense food
- Weigh and/or measure proper portions of food in appropriate containers
- Accurately process and accept payment for goods sold in the department
- Ensure all standards of cleanliness are maintained, including the use of gloves and hair net
- Ensure safety measures are taken when handling or carrying hot trays of food
- Maintain awareness of floor conditions and ensure safety measures protect customers, vendors, and employees
- Restock displays of food as needed and retrieve food from back room, kitchen, and cooler
- Restock containers, bags, utensils as needed
- Sweep and/or mop floor as needed
- Wipe countertops, cooking areas and display cases as needed
- Maintain sanitary work area to keep food safe from contamination
- Wash, sanitize, and store department utensils and equipment properly
- Follow department procedures for federal, state and company health, safety, and sanitation codes
- Report accidents promptly according to company procedures
- Attend and participate in departmental and store meetings
- Maintain punctuality and good attendance according to company policies
- Perform other related duties as required to accomplish job objectives
- Assist in cafeteria or bakery area as needed
- Assist in kitchen when needed
- Assist with supply orders and notify manager when supplies are low
- Add or change paper or ink cartridges in registers, printers or other equipment
