Job Description

The hiring establishment is a healthcare facility committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care to its patients. This organization values the dignity of every individual and fosters an inclusive work environment where diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents are embraced. The establishment is an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring fair consideration for all qualified applicants without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under federal, state, or local law. With a strong foundation rooted in its mission and core values, the facility prioritizes delivering high-quality nutritional services as an integral part of its overall patient care.

This particular role is a part-time Host/Hostess position within the food service and nutrition department of the healthcare setting. Open availability is required, with scheduled shifts varying from early morning to evening hours, including mandatory every Saturday shifts. The positions offer a pay range between $16.20 and $23.50 per hour, with compensation determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and specific work location. This role is designed to enhance patients' dining experiences by ensuring that nutritional requirements and service expectations are consistently met. The Host/Hostess serves as the essential liaison connecting the patients, nursing units, dieticians, and kitchen staff to coordinate and facilitate meal service efficiently. In this capacity, the individual will assist patients with room service when appropriate and take responsibility for delivering meal trays to assigned patients, prioritizing accuracy and courteous service.

The position demands a strong focus on customer service excellence and an understanding of the unique environment of clinical and industrial settings. Candidates are expected to possess the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate proficiency with PC and Microsoft Windows systems. The candidate should have between one to three years of experience in customer service and food service environments, highlighting a background that supports independent work and problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, the Host/Hostess is expected to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, reflecting the healthcare facility’s culture of healing and service excellence even in stressful situations.

Physical demands include light to medium work involving standing, walking, sitting, as well as pushing and pulling in a service-specific context. The work environment exposes employees to industrial and clinical settings classified as Exposure Class I or II, which requires adherence to safety and hygiene standards at all times. Overall, this role is vital in ensuring that patients receive timely, accurate, and friendly food service, thus supporting their overall health and satisfaction during their stay at the facility. Continuing education and ongoing training are integral components to maintaining and upgrading the knowledge and skills required for this position, ensuring alignment with best practices and nutritional care standards.
