The part-time Host/Hostess opportunity is available at the Carnegie Museums Oakland location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the most visited and esteemed cultural institutions in the city. Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
  • Help create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean and neat environment for guests and other associates
  • Exhibit exceptional communications skills and demonstrate flexibility, patience, and interest in people
  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • Supervise the activities of food-service associates to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
  • Help train new food-service team members
  • Supervise the closing of the dining room and ensure side work and station setup is properly completed
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and assist in evacuations
  • Assist with service including occasional bussing and food service while maintaining safety and sanitation standards
  • May operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
  • Work with staff from other departments during special events or functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
