The part-time Host/Hostess role at Bethesda Senior Living Communities is a crucial position that supports the dining needs of senior residents by overseeing the meal service experience. This job requires working both day and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure consistent and professional dining service. The Host/Hostess is responsible for managing the meal service environment, coordinating with Health Services staff such as Care Partners and Medication Aides, and ensuring a prompt and courteous service delivery to residents, their families, and guests. Part of the role involves maintaining the cleanliness and proper setup of dining areas, including table settings, linens, and condiment availability, and managing guest reservations when necessary.

The job also involves administrative and supervisory responsibilities, such as training Health Services staff on food service protocols and assisting in delegating tasks. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to lift residents with assistance
  • Demonstrates servant heart and attitude
  • Ability to work day and evening shifts
  • Must pass background checks and meet community policies
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Must maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with food production, service, sanitation and safety
  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational, motivational and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Compassion and genuine care for elderly residents
  • Knowledge of safety data sheets and hazardous materials guidelines
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally

Job Duties

  • Oversees meal service to residents, families and guests
  • Ensures quality customer service by designated community staff including Care Partners and Medication Aides
  • Coordinates with Culinary Services Director and Health Services Director for adequate meal service coverage
  • Assigns sections and tables to Health Services staff
  • Manages guest reservations and Private Dining Room setup
  • Oversees cleaning and preparation of dining room and tables
  • Ensures drink stations and salad bars are properly set and stocked
  • Takes meal orders and ensures excellent customer service
  • Maintains confidentiality of residents' personal information
  • Performs cleaning and maintenance duties related to meal service
