Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club (PAHGCC) is a distinguished private club nestled adjacent to the protected open space of the Arastradero Preserve, offering breathtaking Bay Area vistas. Known for its premier championship golf course on the peninsula, PAHGCC provides a serene and scenic environment where members and their families can enjoy exceptional golf alongside year-round recreational activities, artistic culinary experiences, and vibrant social events. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Hosts and Hostesses within our esteemed Ala Carte Member Dining department. This position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager and is integral to ensuring an outstanding dining experience for our members and guests. As a Host or Hostess at PAHGCC, your primary responsibilities will include warmly welcoming members and guests upon arrival, guiding them to their tables while accommodating their seating preferences, and maintaining an inviting and orderly dining environment. The role demands exceptional communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to remain flexible and patient in a dynamic setting. You will also oversee the conduct of food-service associates in the dining room, ensuring adherence to food handling and sanitation regulations while helping to train new team members. Being an ambassador for the club, you will assist with service tasks such as bussing tables and occasionally operating equipment to support smooth operations.
This role is essential to fostering a safe and enjoyable dining experience; you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and assist with member and guest evacuation if necessary. The work environment requires physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods, with some tasks involving lifting up to 30 pounds and performing repetitive motions in a potentially hot and noisy setting.
PAHGCC offers a competitive wage of $20.00 per hour plus house service charge distribution and provides a comprehensive benefits package including sick time, an employee assistance program, and complimentary lunches six days a week. This part-time, non-exempt position is eligible for overtime and requires availability for varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Staff also have the unique perk of enjoying the golf course on Mondays.

Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greets and directs members and guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
- Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean and neat environment for members and guests
- Exhibits exceptional communication skills
- gets along well with others, demonstrates flexibility and patience
- possesses an interest in people
- Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared
- Supervises the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
- Helps train new food-service team members
- Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room
- ensures side work and station setup is properly completed
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate members and guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency
- Assists with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, ice tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
- Attends scheduled staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
