Job Description
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group (GCRG) is a renowned hospitality company operating multiple dining establishments known for providing exceptional guest experiences and quality service. As a restaurant and bar operator, GCRG emphasizes creating warm and welcoming environments where guests can enjoy delicious meals in comfortable and vibrant settings. The company holds a strong commitment to equal employment opportunities, ensuring a discrimination-free workplace that respects diversity and inclusion across all its locations.
The Host/Hostess position at GCRG plays a vital role in shaping the first and lasting impressions of guests as they enter the restaurant. This role demands a friendly, professional, and efficient individual who will greet guests, manage seating arrangements, and ensure that every visitor experiences superior service right from the door. The Host/Hostess is the initial face of the dining establishment and is expected to exceed guest expectations by maintaining a customer-centric approach at all times.
This position involves managing wait lists, maintaining awareness of table status, and accurately communicating wait times to guests. The Host/Hostess will actively engage guests as they arrive and depart, helping to create a memorable and positive dining atmosphere. They will also handle the presentation and organization of menus, operate reservation and POS software, and perform light cleaning duties such as maintaining restrooms and sweeping the front entrance area.
The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, with ambient noise commonly associated with restaurants and bars. The station will be located near the entry door, which may sometimes be drafty. The role requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and the occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds. Because the Host/Hostess is often the first point of contact for guests, professional communication skills and impeccable personal hygiene and grooming are essential.
Employees in this role should be comfortable working long hours including frequent weekends, as customer service during peak dining times is paramount. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position, allowing the Host/Hostess to focus primarily on guest satisfaction and smooth front-of-house operations.
Overall, this role serves as a critical component of the restaurant team at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group, ensuring that each guest is welcomed warmly and assisted promptly, helping to uphold the company’s reputation for hospitality excellence and superior guest care.
