The role of a Host/Hostess with the Harrison Group is a key frontline position that sets the tone for the entire guest experience at our restaurants. As a host or hostess, you will serve as the welcoming face of our dining establishments, providing guests with outstanding customer service from the moment they arrive until their departure. This role involves managing reservations, controlling waitlists, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure the smooth flow of service. Your ability to communicate effectively and maintain an organized waiting area is essential to optimizing the seating capacity and enhancing customer satisfaction. Hosts and hostesses are expected to multitask, greeting guests warmly, answering incoming calls, and assisting wait staff as needed. Physical stamina is important in this fast-paced environment, as the role requires standing and walking for extended periods. Training and support are provided, including completion of a restaurant training course, to prepare you for success. The position offers a competitive pay range of 15 to 17 USD per hour, specifically for roles located at Holiday Inn VA Beach North, reflecting the company’s recognition of the valuable contribution hosts and hostesses make to the overall hospitality experience. Job Requirements

  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Experience in managing reservations
  • Demonstrable customer-service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area
  • Availability to work in shifts as needed
  • Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a host/hostess preferred
  • Must successfully complete restaurants training course
  • High school diploma
  • Hospitality certification is a plus

Job Duties

  • Welcome guests to the venue
  • Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
  • Manage reservations
  • Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas
  • Provide menus and announce Waiter/Waitress's name
  • Greet customers upon their departure
  • Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
  • Maintain a clean reception area
  • Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
  • Answer incoming calls and address customers' queries
  • Assist wait staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
