Job Description
This job opportunity is offered by a healthcare institution committed to providing exceptional patient care and promoting a culture of healing and service excellence. The employer emphasizes its dedication to honoring the dignity of every individual and values the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each team member contributes. This organization proudly upholds equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring fair consideration for all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected status. The work environment is a blend of industrial and clinical settings, exposing employees to Class I or II environments relevant to healthcare and food service operations.
The position available is for a full-time Host/Hostess supporting the institution's food service and nutrition departmental functions. The role is designed to enhance the patient dining experience by delivering meals, assisting with room service when appropriate, and acting as a bridge between patients, dieticians, nursing units, and kitchen staff to meet patients' nutritional needs and service expectations. The standard work schedule entails 40 hours per week, mainly during weekday hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with some shifts every other weekend from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. Additional schedule flexibility is expected to cover absences within the team.
The Host/Hostess must possess a solid foundation of customer service experience, particularly in a food service setting, supported by strong communication and interpersonal skills. Typing and computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Windows, are important to manage daily coordination tasks effectively. This role requires a patient-focused, self-motivated individual able to work independently while maintaining a friendly and cheerful demeanor that reflects the organization’s values of compassionate care. The ability to handle stressful situations and solve problems creatively to address patients' unique needs is essential.
Physically, the roles involve light to medium exertion, including standing, walking, sitting, pushing, and pulling as part of meal delivery and service duties. Employees are expected to participate in orientation and ongoing training to keep their skills and knowledge updated, especially regarding food, nutrition, and safety standards. The pay range for this position is from $16.20 to $23.50 per hour, depending on experience, skills, education, and location. This range aligns with the Fair Labor Standards Act's guidelines for pay and salary equivalency.
Overall, this role is pivotal in ensuring that patients receive meals that not only meet dietary needs but also contribute to a positive hospital experience through excellent service. Those who take this role will join a team dedicated to healthcare and service excellence, making a significant impact on patient satisfaction and wellbeing in a supportive and mission-driven work environment.
